Yes, but it must have either Microsoft Office operating system (XP, 7, 8) or Crossover loaded.  VHI will not run on Apple products without a Windows based option available.  Microsoft Office is not sufficient as it is not an operating system.

PC-kits is not available for iPad.

PC Kits Desktop software is licensed for use on one computer only.
The PC Kits Desktop/Network is the software platform required to run all of VHI’s exercise databases. Each computer would need the PC Kits Desktop software or if a network version, be connected to the network software.
We provide you with a download link along with serial number/s.  Ensure you are connected to the internet and click on the link.  If asked to Save or Open, choose Save.  A zip file commences the download.  Once the download is finished (20 minutes to an hour depending on your internet speed) extract all files onto the new folder.  Open the extracted files and run setup.exe.  After the program is installed, double-click the PC-Kits desktop icon to run the software.  A screen advising PC-Kits must be Activated before it can be used and offering three options being, Activate over the Internet, by telephone or Activate later.  Choose Internet, but if unsuccessful, then choose By Telephone at which time you will receive an 8X2 digit number called an Installation ID.  Contact us with your serial numbers and the Installation ID number and we will provide you with an Activation code.

We also provide download instructions when we forward you your Serial Number/s

You are able to transfer the software to another PC. You need all your serial numbers to reinstall the software. Since the software was previously activated on a different PC, you will need to contact us to have your serial numbers released before you can re-activate your software.
Contact us by filling in the contact form on our website and providing us with all your serial numbers and the version of VHI operating. We will release the Program from the old PC.
Open VHI, go to Help, then About where you will find the VHI version operating, the serial numbers and an Activation code peculiar to your PC.
Search Function – search for exercises by using keywords or by category
Email – able to email routines using more than Microsoft Outlook (previously, it was only able to email with Outlook)
Flipping images – now able to flip images from any layout (previously the flip image was only available in the 3-split layout)
Able to paste exercise titles & captions into documentation programs using Windows clipboard
Access to QuickNotes – one page synopsis of our Evidence Based Newsletters where you are able to import your company logo and distribute QN to patient referral services (shows that you are using evidence based information)
Back up your data files and record your serial numbers.  Details are listed later in FAQ’s.  On a Network ensure you have a backup of the SQL database.
Kits can be added to both PC’s and networks. Additional concurrent users can also be included on networks.
There are two guides available on the Help menu in PC-Kits.  The “Quick Start Guide” and the “Complete User Guide”.  These are PDF files that can also be found in the download or in the VHI PC-Kits folder.
When PC-Kits is installed, the default setting is no security. You can however, turn on User Names and Passwords. To do this in the Desktop edition, open PC-Kits and sign in as Administrator. Go to the File menu and choose Settings. Click on the Security tab and choose Password Protect Therapists. Once this has been done, the users will need a name and password to login.

If the IT Department enable passwords, then they should also have setup each user with a name and password. The users will have to obtain this information from their IT department. Users are setup from the Therapist menu in PC-Kits.

When you first install PC-Kits and turn on password protect, you can login to the program as Administrator with no password unless IT has already set a specific password.

Not as such.  However by reducing the number of exercises to a page, it does increase the print size.
Just copy our Data folder. The default location is:
On a 64 bit PC the location is c:\program files(x86)\visual health information\vhi pc-kits\Data
On a 32 Bit PC the location is c:\program files\visual health information\vhi pc-kits\Data
For VHI V.1 of PC Kits the location is c:\vhi\Data
It usually means our PDF printer driver needs to be reinstalled or you do not have the correct version of PC-Kits. You can run the regular install and choose the Modify option or open the Download and run the PDF install directly by running InstallAmyuni.exe.

This will install a printer called the ‘VHI PDF Converter’. Make sure that it is NOT set as the Default printer.

The PDF driver that comes with PC-Kits version 3.0 and 3.1 will only work on Windows XP.
The PDF driver that comes with PC-Kits versions 3.2 through to 3.4 will work up to Windows 7.
The PDF driver that comes with PC-Kits version 4.0 & 4.1 will work up to Windows 8.

VHI can be installed on all computers linked to the network.  What limits the number of users is determined by how many concurrent user licenses are purchased.  All kits on the network will be available to all concurrent users.

The serial numbers are displayed in the PC-Kits license manager on the license server (or the 1st installed computer in a peer to peer setup).

If having difficulty, try to open the log file and obtain the serial numbers from there. Right click the PC-Kits icon and choose ‘Open File Location’ (on XP you choose ‘Properties’ and then click the ‘Find Target’ button). In the VHI folder there is a file called log.txt (or just log). If you are using Citrix or terminal server, you probably will not have access to the log file.

Back up your data files and record your serial numbers.  Details are listed later in FAQ’s.  On a Network ensure you have a backup of the SQL database.

You need all your serial numbers (they will need to be released before they can be used again) and all your program settings. Open the PC-Kits license manager. Take a screen shot of the serial numbers. Go to the File menu and choose Configure Client Settings and take screen shots of the Database and Security tabs. Then install and activate PC-Kits on the new server and restore any program settings.

Once the license server is moved you have to point the PC-Kits clients to the new server. You can run our setup on the workstation and choose the Modify option or you can edit this registry key on the client:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Visual Health Information\VHI
PC-Kits\Retail\Settings\Licensing
“Server”=

Note: if the client needs to be both upgraded and pointed to a new server, it is just as easy to uninstall it and then reinstall.

If you are moving the PC-Kits SQL database server, you will need to backup the database and then restore it to the new server and also make sure the SQL logins get setup properly.

What version of SQL is on the current server (PC-Kits 3.x ships with MSDE 2000, 4.0 ships with SQL 2005 Express)
What version of SQL will be on the new server (Microsoft does not support MSDE 2000 on Server 2008 or later)
The PC-Kits program will work with SQL 2000, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014 either full or Express editions.

Our 3.x setup program only works properly with SQL 2000, the 4.0 setup will work with SQL 2005 and a default instance. So for newer versions we may need to manually setup the database.  The 4.0 setup will work with SQL 2008 and 2012 only if it is a default instance and the SQL DMO backwards compatibility feature pack has been installed.

Note: You cannot move SQL 2000 database directly to SQL 2012 or 2014.  You must move it to 2005 or 2008 before you can then move it to 2012 or 2014.

Here is the database info:

Database = pckits
Login = pckits_login
Password = pckits_password
Role (user mapping) = pckits user

PC-Kits can also be configured to use Windows Authentication if you prefer. Create your users/groups in SQL and give them access to the pckits database with the pckits user_role. Then go into the Configuration settings in the PC-Kits license manager and change the database authentication to Windows.

There are several ways to backup and restore the PC-Kits SQL database. If the PC-Kits client is installed on the SQL server, you can do a backup and restore in the PC-Kits program. Often the client is not installed on the SQL server so in that case you must do a SQL backup and restore, either from a command prompt or from in SQL Management studio.

If you are moving the PC-Kits application server, you will also have to update the PC-Kits program shortcuts on the client computers.

VHI glossary of terms

This is not intended to cover all facets of Computers, rather some of the terminologies referring to VHI Exercise Kits.

A number that is provided by VHI to initialize the software for a particular PC or network.  If the software is transferred from its original location, a prompt will appear to contact us to re-activate.

A redundant method of providing exercises to patients without using computers.  This method is no longer stocked by us, as all exercises are included in VHI Software.
The original way of loading the VHI program and Kits onto the PC; this method has been superseded by download links to VHI Software.
The number of user licenses purchased and able to concurrently use the program.
The software component that enables a client to use VHI PC Kits on a single stand alone PC.
A USB type stick that was used to load the VHI programs and Kits onto the PC or Network;  this method has been superseded by download links to VHI Software. Contact us to arrange an update from a Dongle operated VHI program as they are no longer supported.
The method by which the program is obtained via the Internet.
A number generated by PCkits to uniquely identify the PC or Network.  This limits the facilitation of the program to that PC or Network.
The individual exercise programs (44 Exercise Kits to choose from) available to operate on Desktop or Network Servers.
The software component that enables a client to use VHI PC Kits on a Network system.
VHI PC Kits is the base software platform where any of the 44 kits may be installed. There is a Desktop version and a Network version of PC Kits.
The act of releasing the program from one PC or Network Server to allow installation on another after an update, etc.
A unique number (VHI Software Key) provided to a client, from which they access the program and Kits purchased from VHI.  For new desktop orders, the serial number installs the base software program plus the kits ordered.  For network orders, two serial numbers are supplied, one accesses the kits ordered and the second accesses the number of concurrent users.  All serial numbers must be Activated prior to use.  Serial numbers MUST be kept in a safe place by the user as they will be required when updating computers or VHI Software.
